SAUVIGNON BLANC TO SIGH FOR

Love in Wine Country #4

Pamela Gibson

Releasing Feb 13th, 2017

Sarah James has always wanted to be part of a family. Her divorced parents are estranged and she has no siblings. But she does have friends, especially Sam, who’s always underfoot…eating her food, fixing stuff in her house, and seeking advice about his love life.

Aspiring winemaker Sam Reynoso has taken care of Sarah since the sixth grade. She’s smart, comfortable, and indulgent. They’re best friends until a wine and food pairing competition throws them together in an intimate, tension-filled setting.

As feelings neither of them expected start to emerge, each will have to decide if their relationship will evolve, or if their newfound love will be nipped in the bud by a crushing secret.

Pamela Gibson grew up loving books, history, and small towns. Her first career was a newspaper reporter, but when she returned to college to get a master’s degree, it was in public administration which eventually led to jobs running cities…not as an elected official, but as a city manager, the chief appointed one.

Writing was still her passion and in her spare time—between meetings and raising two active kids—she was contracted to write several books on local history. Taking an early retirement at the urging of her very supportive husband, she turned to fiction and began writing the happy ending novels she loves to read.

She now spends half her time on land and the other half cruising coastal or inland waters in her 32-foot boat. She speed-eats chocolates when she’s nervous, squeals when she sees a spider, and loves to relax with a good read with a mellow glass of wine.

But caring for Skyler brings the pair closer, and Laney lets down her guard, allowing them the chance to find happiness together in the midst of so much destruction. But someone doesn’t want them to be happy. Someone wants Laney gone.

Threats might derail their love before it really starts…

As the couple tries to build their budding relationship, Laney begins to receive menacing messages. And when she and Josh learn that Skyler’s accident is anything but unintentional, they fight to balance finding the would-be killer with keeping keep Laney safe from her stalker. But each wild turn takes them further away from the truth…and each other.

Can Laney and Josh discover who is behind the violent acts, or is each guess they make nothing more than a shot in the dark?

Excpert:

Josh had been a gentleman. At times, he seemed to be overprotective. In a way, she liked it. She loved knowing she didn’t have to look over her shoulder all the time and even began to let down her guard.

She dozed at one point and woke up to strong hands kneading her back. Until then, she hadn’t realized how her muscles had grown stiff from the boarding. She lifted her head. It took a moment for her to reorient herself.

“Good morning, Sunshine.”

She rolled over. She couldn’t help but admire his physical beauty. His body was a work of art; his chest and arms were perfectly chiseled and tan, and he had a six pack to die for. This man has no flaws.Trying not to be too obvious about her gawking, she was finally able to talk.

“What time is it?”

Josh checked his watch. “It’s about 5:30.”

“Wow! I slept like two hours.”

“I know. I enjoyed watching you sleep.”

“Oh geez, I must be the worst date ever.”

“No, I actually fell asleep for a bit too. Then I took a dip in the ocean to clear my mind. It was good.”

“Well, I’m glad.” Laney stretched and stared out at the ocean.

“What do you say we go rinse off in the showers again and get some dinner? There’s this great restaurant I want to take you to.”

“What kind of restaurant is it?”

“I thought we agreed that I was the only one who was in the need to know and you were to be surprised. To answer your question, they serve everything but specialize in seafood. You can wear a cover-up and be fine. However, that little sundress you were wearing earlier will be perfect.”

“You’re a pain.”

He threw his head back and laughed. “Yes, I am.”

“So you liked the sundress?”

“I don’t think I said that. I believe I said it would be perfect for this restaurant. But yes, it is very flattering.”

“You think I’m pretty.” She took a line out of the movie Miss Congeniality, “You think I’m pretty, and you want to kiss me.”

She wasn’t expecting the words would have the same effect as in the movie, but before she knew it, he pushed her back onto the towel and gave her the deepest, most passionate kiss she had ever experienced.

This kiss was something out of the movies. If she had been standing, she would’ve probably melted into his arms.

The kiss seemed to last forever, and yet it was over too soon. His stare was hypnotic. It took her a moment to catch her breath but she couldn’t stop looking into his eyes. They were so beautiful she wanted to get lost in them forever.

He broke the silence. “Yes, I do.”

“Yes you do what?” She sat back up.

“Yes, I do want to kiss you.” He smiled crookedly.

“I’d say so. I certainly didn’t see that coming.”

“Well, there’s something about the element of surprise. Sometimes it can knock you off your feet.”

“That you did.” She touched her hand to her lips to try to hold onto the tingling she had felt.

“Don’t worry. It won’t be the last one.”

“Oh, really?” She smiled at him.

“Yes. There’ll be plenty more to come.”

“What if I’ve decided I’m not that into you?”

“Based on the way you just responded to me, I’d say there isn’t a chance in hell that’s the case.” He got up to his feet and helped her up.

“Is that so? You seem pretty sure of yourself.” She brushed the sand off her arms and legs and put on her flip-flops. She grabbed her towel and began shaking the sand off as Josh shook the sand off his.

“It’s hard not to be when you look like this.” He gestured up and down his body.

“Hot and modest. How did I get so lucky to snag a date with you? You must have your choice of swooning women.”

“You forgot to mention I’m a good kisser.”

She laughed and tried to frown. “Okay, now you’re just being a jerk.” She tucked the towel into her bag.

But he couldn’t be as sure of himself as he claimed, because then he said, “Hey, you know I’m just kidding, right?”

“Well, you are a good kisser, but, don’t let it go to your head.” Laughing, they headed up the beach to the showers. Once they rinsed off, they walked to the car and grabbed some clothes to throw on over their bathing suits. Josh took Laney’s hand and held it as they walked.

Tangling With The London Tycoon VBT + Giveaway

img_6597

Tangling with the London Tycoon (Brick Square #1) by Suzi Jennings

Publication Date: February 13, 2017

img_6596London publishing tycoon Rosco Redmond closely guards his family, his business, and his privacy. When his sister’s wedding brings the paparazzi baying at his door, wedding photographer Kitty Mayfair unwittingly becomes his decoy girlfriend. But the mysterious Kitty has secrets of her own.

Despite the sexy hint of an appealing Irish brogue, Kitty’s new boss is bent on micromanaging his sister’s wedding and the crazy fake relationship she’s been dragged into. The only thing they seem to have in common, is that neither of them believes in happy-ever-afters. But the more time Kitty spends with the tycoon, the more she begins to suspect there’s a lot of fire beneath his cool facade.

With the past complicating their present, and the zoom lenses of photographers everywhere they go, the commitment phobic control freak and the globe-trotting free spirit clash and ignite.

Book Excpert:

Rosco Redmond was an opportunity Kitty couldn’t afford to mess up.

The door to his Georgian town house lacked any attempt at welcome. It faced the world with immaculate London style—glossy black paint against warm cream stone—handsome but unadorned.

The peaceful, exclusive inner city cobblestone street oozed understated elegance. Its sweep of heritage buildings an oasis of secluded tranquility, just a few blocks away from London’s hectic commercial center.

But it had Kitty’s heartbeat thundering in her ears as unwanted memories flooded her in a cold tide of rejection. Memories of the miserable childhood she’d purged from her adult life.

It was the worst coincidence that the Redmond house looked an awful lot like her childhood home and represented the kind of world Kitty never wanted to be part of again.

The unexpected shock had all her buried insecurities nibbling at her confidence.

But she’d never walked away from a challenge since she was sixteen, when her mother died and left her alone. A time of shame, of dark and painful memories usually left undisturbed and firmly in the past where they belonged.

Shaking them off now, she faced the house squarely, rocking discreetly from foot to foot to ease the ache of her highest heeled boots. She’d chosen them for courage, so she didn’t mind the pain.

Straightening her back, she commanded her nerves to focus and smiled as her fingers caressed the worn strap of the camera hung around her neck.

She could do this job.

Plucked at short notice from the lowest ranks of LJ Redmond Publishing’s contracted photographers for this urgent assignment, she couldn’t believe her luck. It was a matter of timing, the human resources department had informed her, because all of Mr. Redmond’s senior photographers were unavailable at this time.

She would do whatever was required, as her financial security depended on nailing this project—whatever it turned out to be—and taking her best photos ever.

Kitty took one last look at the imposing three-story building, sucked in a deep breath, and bounded up the four steps to the porch. She found the discreetly recessed doorbell and pressed it for a long, determined ring.

Hoisting her camera bag onto her hip, she took another steadying breath as the sound of security locks opening reminded her this was serious business.

Then Rosco Redmond, CEO of his family’s Investment and Publishing Groups, stood in the doorway. She’d expected a butler in coattails or a housekeeper to answer the door.

The man himself was tall, lean, and gorgeous. Tailored for business in an impeccable dark suit and blood-red tie.

Playing The Game VBT + Giveaway

The arrogant hockey player can’t hide from her,

the one person who knows him better than anyone else.

PLAYING THE GAME

York Bombers #1

Lisa B. Kamps

Releasing Feb 14th, 2017

BimHaven Press

Harland Day knows what it’s like to be on rock bottom: he was there once before, years ago when his mother walked out and left him behind. But he learned how to play the game and survived, crawling his way up with the help of a friend-turned-lover. This time is different: he has nobody to blame but himself for his trip to the bottom. His mouth, his attitude, his crappy play that landed him back in the minors instead of playing pro hockey with the Baltimore Banners. And this time, he doesn’t have anyone to help him out, not when his own selfishness killed the most important relationship he ever had.

Courtney Williams’ life isn’t glamorous or full of fame and fortune but she doesn’t need those things to be happy. She of all people knows there are more important things in life. And, for the most part, she’s been able to forget what could have been–until Harland gets reassigned to the York Bombers and shows back up in town, full of attitude designed to hide the man underneath. But the arrogant hockey player can’t hide from her, the one person who knows him better than anyone else. They had been friends. They had been lovers. And then they had been torn apart by misunderstanding and betrayal.

But some ties are hard to break. Can they look past what had been and move forward to what could be? Or will the sins of the past haunt them even now, all these years later?

TEASER

Lisa B. Kamps is the author of the best-selling series The Baltimore Banners, featuring “hard-hitting, heart-melting hockey players” (USA Today), on and off the ice. Her firefighter series, Firehouse Fourteen, features hot and heroic firefighters who put more than their lives on the line. Her newest hockey series, The York Bombers, launches with PLAYING THE GAME in February, 2017.

In a previous life, she worked as a firefighter with the Baltimore County Fire Department then did a very brief (and not very successful) stint at bartending in east Baltimore, and finally served as the Director of Retail Operations for a busy Civil War non-profit.

Lisa currently lives in Maryland with her husband and two sons (who are mostly sorta-kinda out of the house), one very spoiled Border Collie, two cats with major attitude, several head of cattle, and entirely too many chickens to count. When she’s not busy writing or chasing animals, she’s cheering loudly for her favorite hockey team, the Washington Capitals–or going through withdrawal and waiting for October to roll back around!

Can he embrace the beast within?

I’m a monster. That’s what Brandon thinks when he flees the medical institute that changed him. Living a normal life isn’t in the cards for him because, while he can hide his scaly skin, his wings are hard to miss. So he runs and lives in the shadows where monsters belong. What he didn’t expect to find were others just like him, and they call themselves dragons. Or so Aimi with the violet eyes tells him when she pins him to the ground.

Seriously, though, dragons?

He doesn’t want to believe, but the evidence is mounting. Not helping his resolve is the fact that the woman with the silver hair doesn’t fear the monster and wants to claim him.

However, before he can think of his own happiness, he has to rescue his little sister. Uncle Theo kidnapped her, and Brandon will do anything to get her back, even if he must embrace the monster within to become the dragon.

Book Excerpt:

“What do you mean, what am I?” Her brow crinkled. “I am the same thing you are.” Her shoulders drew back, her head tilted imperially, and for a moment, shadowy wings glistened silver at her back. “We are dragon.”

At her serious claim, he gaped then snorted before he outright laughed.

“Why are you giggling?” She seemed perturbed at his reaction.

“Men don’t giggle. We guffaw. And I’m guffawing because that is the most ridiculous thing I’ve heard. I’m no dragon. I’m nothing anymore but a fucking mess.” Bitter words for a bitter fate.

Excerpt
1:

The smoke is clearing on the lawn of Angelica’s newly blown up home.  We see that the center of the home is completely missing, but the further away from the blast site there’s less and less damage.

The soldiers, who have been blown in different directions and     have various stages of injuries, are getting up or waking up from being knocked out from the blast.

John is helping Becky up.

Moses:  How ya doin’, girl?

Becky:  What happened?!!

Soldiers have come together on the lawn.  There’s holes and burn marks on their uniforms.  One of them is holding pressure on a pretty bad cut on another’s arm.

John:  Is everyone OK?

David:  Define “OK”!!

Cecilia: Where’s Angelica?

Samson:  Last I saw, she was being dragged off to that helicopter by what I can only describe as demons from hell!  I mean, did everyone else see what I saw?

Moses talking, but with a memory bubble of the demons attacking.

Moses:  Oh, I saw them, all right!  Pretty much the scariest moments of my life!

All are looking puzzled.

Becky to Cecilia (or the group):  Why did they zero-in on Angelica?  Why not

any of us?!

David is speaking to the group.

David:  I think I can answer that one, though I’m not sure how…!

John:  What do you mean?  Did you overhear them or something?

David:  No.  I mean, I know “why” they took her, but no one told me.  It was like I

could read their minds…but even “more” than that.  It was like I could just feel  their intentions!

Soldiers are looking at each other skeptically.

David:  Look, I know what you’re thinking.  I’m not crazy, OK?!  I can’t explain

it to you, but I’m telling you the truth!

Samson speaks to David.

Samson: (quietly) Look man, we’re not judging you.  ALL of this is just a little

tough to take in…

Moses: Totally!!  I mean, did you see those things?!  THEY WERE DEMONS!

I was like, “Oh no you didn’t…!!!” when that hell-spawned, head monster grabbed Angelica!

Releasing Feb 7th, 2017 Avon Impulse

An earl hiding from his future …

Lawrence Browne, the Earl of Radnor, is mad. At least, that’s what he and most of the village believes. A brilliant scientist, he hides himself away in his family’s crumbling estate, unwilling to venture into the outside world. When an annoyingly handsome man arrives at Penkellis, claiming to be Lawrence’s new secretary, his carefully planned world is turned upside down.

A swindler haunted by his past …

Georgie Turner has made his life pretending to be anyone but himself. A swindler and con man, he can slip into an identity faster than he can change clothes. But when his long-dead conscience resurrects and a dangerous associate is out for blood, Georgie escapes to the wilds of Cornwall. Pretending to be a secretary should be easy, but he doesn’t expect that the only madness he finds is the one he has for the gorgeous earl.

Can they find forever in the wreckage of their lives?

Challenging each other at every turn, the two men soon give into the desire that threatens to overwhelm them. But with one man convinced he is at the very brink of madness and the other hiding his real identity, only true love can make this an affair to remember.

Cornwall, 1816

CHAPTER ONE

All this fuss about a couple of small explosions. As far as Lawrence cared, the explosions were entirely beside the point. He had finished experimenting with fuses weeks ago. More importantly, this was his house to burn to the ground if that’s what he wanted to do with it. Hell, if he blew the godforsaken place up, and himself right along with it, the only person who would even be surprised was the man sitting before him.

“Five servants quit,” Halliday said, tapping Lawrence’s desk in emphasis. Dust puffed up in tiny clouds around the vicar’s fingertips. “Five. And you were woefully understaffed even before then.”

Five fewer servants? So that was why the house had been so pleasantly quiet, why his work had been so blissfully undisturbed.

“There was no danger to the servants. You know I keep them away from my work.” That was something Lawrence insisted on even when he wasn’t exploding things. The very idea of chattering maids underfoot was enough to discompose his mind even further. “And I conducted most of the actual explosions out of doors.” Now was probably not the time to mention that he had blown the roof off the conservatory.

“All I’m suggesting is a sort of secretary.” Halliday was dangerously unaware of how close he was to witnessing an explosion of the metaphorical variety. “Somebody to keep records of what you’ve mixed together and whether it’s likely to”—he puffed his cheeks out and made a strange noise and an expansive gesture that Lawrence took to represent explosion—“ignite.”

The Reverend Arthur Halliday did not know what was good for him. If he did, he would have fled the room as soon as he saw Lawrence reach for the inkwell. Lawrence’s fingers closed around the object, preparing to hurl it at the wall behind the vicar’s head. Sod the man for even suggesting Lawrence didn’t know how to cause an explosion. He hadn’t invented Browne’s Improved Black Powder or even that bloody safety fuse through blind luck, for God’s sake.

“Besides,” Halliday went on, “you said you need an extra set of hands for this new device you’re working on.”

Oh, damn and blast. Lawrence knew he shouldn’t have told the vicar. But he had hoped Halliday might volunteer to help with the device himself, not badger Lawrence into hiring some stranger. The vicar was convenient enough, and when he wasn’t dead set on sticking his nose where it didn’t belong, he wasn’t entirely unpleasant company.

“I’ve had secretaries,” Lawrence said from between gritted teeth. “It ends badly.”

“Well, obviously, but that’s because you go out of your way to terrify them.” Halliday glanced pointedly at the inkwell Lawrence still held.

And there again was Halliday missing the point entirely. Lawrence didn’t need to go out of his way to frighten anyone. All he had to do was simply exist. Everyone with any sense kept a safe distance from the Mad Earl of Radnor, as surely as they stayed away from rabid dogs and coiled asps. And explosive devices, for that matter.

Except for the vicar, who came to Penkellis Castle three times a week. He likely also called on bedridden old ladies and visited the workhouse. Maybe his other charity cases were grateful, but the notion that he was the vicar’s good deed made Lawrence’s fingers curl grimly around the inkwell as he plotted its trajectory through the air.

“I’ll take care of the details,” Halliday was saying. “I’ll write the advertisement and handle the inquiries. A good secretary might even be able to manage the household a bit,” the vicar said with the air of a man warming to his topic, “get it into a fit condition for the child—”

“No.” Lawrence didn’t raise his voice, but he slammed his fist onto the desk, causing ink to splatter all over the blotter and the cuff of his already-inky shirt. A stack of papers slid from the desk onto the floor, leaving a single dustless patch of wood where they had been piled. Out of the corner of his eye he saw a spider scurry out from under the papers.

“True,” Halliday continued, undaunted. “A housekeeper would be more appropriate, but—”

“No.” Lawrence felt the already fraying edges of his composure unraveling fast. “Simon is not coming here.”

“You can’t keep him off forever, you know, now that he’s back in England. It’s his home, and he’ll own it one day.”

When Lawrence was safely dead and buried, Simon was welcome to come here and do what he pleased. “I don’t want him here.” Penkellis was no place for a child, madmen were not fit guardians, and nobody knew those facts better than Lawrence himself, who had been raised under precisely those conditions.

Halliday sighed. “Even so, Radnor, you have to do something about this.” He gestured around the room, which Lawrence thought looked much the same as ever. One hardly even noticed the scorch marks unless one knew where to look. “It can’t be safe to live in such a way.”

Safety was not a priority, but even Lawrence wasn’t mad enough to try to explain that to the vicar.

“Villagers won’t even walk past the garden wall anymore. And the stories they invent…” The vicar wrung his hands. “A secretary. Please. It would ease my mind to know you had someone up here with you.”

A keeper, then. Even worse.

But Lawrence did need another set of hands to work on the communication device. If Halliday wouldn’t help, then Lawrence had no other options. God knew Halliday had been right about the local people not wanting anything to do with him.

“Fine,” he conceded. “You write the advertisement and tell me when to expect the man.” He’d say what he needed to in order to end this tiresome conversation and send the vicar on his way.

It wasn’t as if this secretary would last more than a week or two anyway. Lawrence would see to that.

FALLING FOR THE HIGHLANDER

Highlander #4

Lynsay Sands

Avon Books

If there’s one thing Lady Murine will not abide, it’s her virtue being handed over to the highest bidder. When her scoundrel brother does just that—in exchange for a few Scottish horses, no less—she’s appalled, but she refuses to stand by and let it happen. She’s determined to take matters into her own hands, even if it means braving the countryside alone—or worse, with a tempting Scot by her side.

Dougall set out to sell a few horses to an English lord; he never expected he’d help smuggle a beautiful fugitive back to Scotland instead. When her brother offered Lady Murine for a few horses, Dougall was disgusted and promptly turned him down. But encountering the runaway lass on the road out of town sets something pounding in Dougall’s heart. There’s something about this fierce woman that makes him want to do more than just help her escape. He wants to protect her—with his life and his heart.

If Dougall’s not careful, this Scot might just end up tying the knot…

“Dougall,” Murine moaned in protest when he broke their kiss. She tried to shift against him again, but he held her still, trying to catch his breath and regain control of himself.

“Hush,” he murmured and turned sharply toward shore, intending to get them out of the water and set her away from him. He realized what a stupid idea that was when the supporting water fell away and she, probably afraid he would drop her, tightened her legs to keep herself up. Dougall stopped walking and dropped his head to her chest with a groan as her body slid against his again.

This had really been a bad idea, he acknowledged and took a couple of deep breaths, before saying, “I’m going to set ye down, lass.”

“But I don’ wan’ ye to,” she protested. “This feels good. I like it.”

The words made his determination falter. If it weren’t for the way she slurred her words, he might have taken her there and then. However, there was a definite slur to her words. Murine was in no state to think clearly on this. He had to think for both of them, and while he’d pretty much decided he was indeed going to marry Lady Murine Carmichael and bed her well and repeatedly, he would not have her waking in the morning and accusing him of treating her like the whore her brother had tried to turn her into.

“I like it too, lass, but—”

“Then why are ye stopping? Did I do something wrong? Tell me what to do and I’ll—” Her words died on a gasp as he suddenly dropped her into the water. It was a desperate bid to save them both. She was a tasty little bundle and Dougall could not fight himself and her too.

Leaving her to flounder back to her feet in the shallow water, he moved quickly back to shore, grabbed his tartan, laid it out, and knelt to begin pleating it with his back to the water. He didn’t do more than glance over his shoulder once to be sure she got out of the water safely, but then immediately turned his full attention forward again. He would give her time to dress and then escort her back to camp . . . and then he would not allow himself to be alone with her until they reached Buchanan and were safely married. He would not have her thinking he saw her through her brother’s eyes.
