HARD TO PROTECT

Black Ops Heroes #3

Incy Black

Releasing March 20, 2017

Entangled Ignite

Some
Black Op missions are too dark—even for him.

Volcanic hot and
ambitious Special Agent Will Berwick doesn’t give a damn what his orders are,
he’s not taking the enemy—the lovely, but arctic Dr. Angel Treherne—to bed. Nor
will she die on his watch, most certainly not by his hand. Oh, he’ll root out her
secrets. But his own way—teaching her a much-deserved lesson while he’s at it:
that no one messes with his career plan just because they’re a little peeved
with him.

Caught up
in a tangled web of deceit and betrayal, psychotherapist Angel trusts no one—certainly
not alpha-cocky, cunning Will Berwick. First he’s hostile, then he’s charming,
now he wants to protect her? Why? What’s he hiding? With her life—and heart—on
the line, she needs to know.

With the
risks high and personal, can Will and Angel agree the dangerous choices they
must make?

Excerpt:

What he wanted was an explanation as to why she’d nixed his return to active duty. He grinned, instead. “You seem more piqued than usual by my silence, Doc. Pre-menstrual tension?”

No flinch. No sharp intake of breath. She didn’t even blink. But the sudden chill she threw damn near caused his balls to retract.

Then, like an assassin’s blade in the dark, she sliced. “Suffered any symptoms of impotency since your injury, Berwick?”

Perversely, his groin heated. Well, apparently, if he wasn’t going to dignify her surprising and utterly unprofessional counter-challenge with a response, his dick would. Odd, when to-date, this woman hadn’t stirred so much as an extra pulse-throb from him.

Not that she was unattractive. On the contrary, her classical beauty could launch ships. Flawless bone-structure. Complexion creamy, lustrous as a pearl. Fathomless grey eyes intent enough to make a man’s soul hum. Wide mouth. Generous lips, blush-pink and ripe. Hinting at dirty.

Her demeanor though—do-not-touch frigid.

Jesus, if someone had told him a Nordic God had carved her out of ice and then had second thoughts about getting close enough to breathe some warmth into her for fear of forevermore ejaculating snowflakes, he wouldn’t have argued.

Without breaking eye contact, he vaguely imagined what she might look like with that tight French braid of hers loosened, the tips of her breasts peeking through the untidy fall of blond tresses, as she lay naked, writhing beneath his hands.

And gave himself a mental slap.

Never going to happen. No way would he take this female to bed. Even if he survived the encounter, he doubted she would. Someone, or something, had damaged her. No woman wrapped herself in that many layers of frost without good reason. She may have crossed him, and for that she would pay, but he didn’t want to break her, for Christ’s sake.

He’d shattered Diana, and in return her death—suicide—had shattered him. A joyride through hell he preferred not to repeat.

No, he’d cajole the whereabouts of Treherne’s brother from her in a way that didn’t require physical contact or, at least, not deep physical contact. The odd affectionate caress he’d allow, purely as a sign of friendship. He had a feeling she could do with an ally. “What would have to happen for you to agree to have dinner with me?”

“Both ice caps would have to melt.”

He choked back, Well, you would know, and widened his grin. To hell with his reservations. This wintery beauty shared none of Diana’s frailty. The Doc could take care of herself.

Game on.

To
escape the frenzy of three children aged under 4 years, two mad dogs and four
very odd cats, Incy Black committed to a law degree
(University College, London), first to piss off those who said she didn’t stand
a chance, and second, because she’s never learned to walk a hill when there are
mountains to be climbed.

writing romantic action adventures, she works as a Marketing Director…also
cook, cleaner and homemaker.

Living
in the UK’s West Country, her (now five) children are well versed in what
scares her (most things) and delight in pushing her neurotic buttons—at their
peril.

Title: Knocking Boots: A Sexy Standalone Contemporary

Authors: Willow Winters & Vivian Wood

Genre: Contemporary Romance

It started as a bet; now I don’t want to stop.

I was engaged once, and I learned my lesson. That’ll never happen again. Women come and go, but my bar is all I give a damn about. F*ck commitment. All I need is one night. It’s just for fun, and then it’s over.

Until she walked into my bar. My sweetheart.

Gorgeous from head to toe, she’s a woman who knows exactly what she wants. The whole nine yards, complete with a picket fence… not a southern bartender with commitment issues.

Maybe it was the challenge that drew me to her… maybe it was something else.

It was harmless flirting at first. Then it turned into a drunken deal.

She’s supposed to play my girlfriend until my sister’s wedding, just to get my family off my back.

Every day we get closer to the wedding, it’s harder and harder to deny what I’m feeling.

But she never wanted me to begin with. It was just a stupid bet.

She never told me what she wanted in return. I know what she’s desperate for though, a baby. A family to call her own.

I’m not ready to settle down, but damn I want to hold on to her for just a little longer.

But I can’t let “just a little longer” turn into forever.

She blushes and looks away. I wait for her. I just want her to open up to me. To talk to me. My fingers trail back down to her entrance and back up to her clit, a shudder running through her body.

“Please,” she moans into the air, her back bowing as she tries to grind her pussy into my hand. I smile down at her. “Please what?”

“Please…” she hesitates to answer as her eyes dart behind me again. I look over my shoulder, but no one’s there.

“I’m not going to let anyone see,” I tell her firmly. If that’s what she’s scared about, we’ll be alright. We’re far enough away that no one’s going to catch us and if they come back here, I’ll be blocking their view. Her blue eyes flick to mine.

“Please get me off.” My dick turns to stone at her asking me that. I can feel my zipper against my dick and I’m desperate to readjust it, but I can’t move my hand away from her pussy. “Anything for you,” I tell her in an even voice. How it’s not strained, I don’t know.
“Mmmhm. I think you need to unwind,” he says. “You’re so tense all the time.” “And you have an idea how I should unwind?” I say, opening my eyes. I already know what his idea is.

I had the strength to walk away at the park… but like a moth to a flame, I came right back.

A wicked grin lights up his features. It makes my toes want to curl. “I do. I think you just need to get laid.”

I only wanted to read romance, and I read EVERYTHING. I would read a book a day — sometimes two.  In January 2016 I was staying up late with her and just thinking of all these stories.  They came to me constantly. And I finally sat down and just started writing. I always wanted to do it so I figured, why not? I never thought I would reach this point of success, to be honest. SYNOPSIS:

Shay Matthews moved to Boston for a fresh start…new apartment, new job, new routine. After too many years being coddled by her overbearing older brothers, Shay’s ready for some freedom and maybe a nice, easygoing guy. She wasn’t expecting to literally run into the scowling, brooding, (and unfairly smoking hot) guy next door.

Fresh off a haunting undercover assignment, detective Wyatt Daniels is jaded about life, relationships, and especially happily-ever-after. But there’s something about the independent and beautiful Shay that makes him want to dig deeper. Or stay away, which is definitely the smarter option of the two.

But the more Shay tries to convince herself that her sweet building manager, Brady, is the guy for her, the more Mr. Completely Wrong-for-Her Wyatt invades her mind and her heart.

Excpert:

When he’d swallowed, he answered her with more amusement than he’d felt in a long time. “No. One, she’s engaged. Two, the last thing I want is a girlfriend.”

A one-night stand? Sure. But nothing with strings or access to his heart. Shay considered that and continued to chew as though she were dining with the damn Queen of England.

“That could be a good thing.”

This time he arched his brow. Why the hell did she amuse him so much? Attraction he understood. Anything

else? No thanks.

“Your apartment would probably scare off any potential candidates,” she said.

And again, he laughed. He grabbed them each a soda, cracking the top on hers before passing it.

“Thanks.”

Wyatt nodded. He liked the sound of her voice. It was soft and sweet. Gentle. She’d make a good audiobook reader. His mother was always listening to those. Wyatt didn’t understand why anyone would listen to nything other than music, but if he was going to listen to someone talk, he liked the way Shay’s words sounded.

“Good thing I’m not looking.”

And because he’d missed seeing the way a woman’s cheeks flushed, he added, “You don’t seem scared.”

Lust twisted low in his stomach when her light skin turned pink. Not a good idea. Incredibly bad idea.

She didn’t back down or shy away. “Because I’m not. Scared…or interested, that is,” she clarified, lifting her chin slightly.

He read liars for a living, but he didn’t have time to call her on it. Plus, it was better she keep telling herself that.

Wyatt cleared his throat and looked at his watch again. “I need to go. The door locks behind you. Obviously if you turn out to be a thief, I know where you live.”

She nodded, her lips forming a pout. “If I tried to be a thief, I’d probably mess it up anyway. I do that a lot lately.”

She looked down at her sandwich, and he wanted to push her to tell him more. Which irritated the hell out of him. He didn’t need to know more.

Between the Secrets by S. Ferguson

Release Date: March 16th, 2017
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Between the Secrets, an all-new MM romance by S. Ferguson is available now!!

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000039_00007]

Sometimes the past won’t let you escape no matter how much your future wants you to.

Jake James lives in the shadows of his shame. The guilt for what he’s done, for what was done to him, has left him hollow and haunted.

Greg Bissen just wants Jake to let him in, having accepted who he is a long time ago, he is desperate to break through Jake’s defenses.

When danger and an agonizing loss threatens to tear them apart, will Jake let the burdens of his past crush him?

Or can love really conquer all, even if it’s hiding in between the secrets?

Excerpt:

I hear a clatter, pulling me out of my own head, as Jake tries to yank the dusty cloth off the stove. That’s enough of that shit. I don’t know if the stove is still connected to the gas and I don’t feel like dying in a giant fireball tonight.

Marching up to Jake, I grab his shoulders and try to steer him toward the back door, but he isn’t having it. Spinning around, he puts us chest to chest. I swallow the sudden lump in my throat. Does he know? Of course he doesn’t.

The tension between us has been rising to a boiling point. Our chemistry is so much deeper than just friendship. Jake’s walls come down when he drinks, but I have never dared to hope for a moment like this.

“There isn’t any food,”Jake pouts, his baby face making him look like an adorable child—a child I want to smack and kiss, in no particular order. I’m tired too and ready to go home. But I know Jake won’t drop his hunt for food. We’ve been down this road before.

I sigh in defeat. “I’ll take you to Waffle House,”I whisper. I’ll push aside my tiredness for Jake. I would do almost anything for him. This moment feels intimate, being in the dark alone with him in my arms. It’s pretty much every dream I’ve ever had come true.

“Greg…”Jake’s voice trails off. I can just barely see in the dim light, but it looks like his eyes are focused on my lips.

“Fuck, don’t look at me like that.”It’s only a half-hearted protest. More of me wants this than not. And that’s the problem.

Jake doesn’t speak. He just leans forward and then, after a brief hesitation, pushes his lips to mine.

My entire body stiffens, afraid to move. God I hope this isn’t some drunken mistake on his part. My hands lock into their position resting on his shoulders. I’m so nervous I’ll spook him. I know his history, probably better than most. I don’t know if he realizes what he’s doing. I know I’m a bastard for not pushing him away, and despite all these thoughts, about ninety percent of the blood in my body is rushing south.

Jake ignores the fact that I’ve frozen on my feet. Slanting his head, his tongue teases my bottom lip, asking me to open up.

And I do. Oh my God, I do.

He wraps his arms around the back of my neck, pulling us even closer. I can feel I’m not the only one aroused by this, his erection pushing against mine through our dress pants. He moans when he feels my hard-on pushing back, and that’s all I need to thaw. I move my left hand up to the back of his head and take control of the kiss. I don’t even think about it; I lower my right hand to rub him through his pants. Despite the material between us, I can feel how hard he is. I feel the heat coming off of him. He moans long and low into my mouth, thrusting himself into my hand.

I curse as I manage to undo his button and fly with one hand, mentally high-fiving myself for the coordination, and reach past the layers of fabric to grip him. He’s just as big as I thought he would be. Smooth skin over something hard enough to hammer nails. I run my hand from his base to tip. I had already known from plenty of times in the men’s room together that he was uncut, but feeling it like this makes me want to do so many dangerous things to him. I wonder how he would feel about me nibbling on…

A sudden crash scares the shit out of us. I rip my mouth from Jake’s and we both turn our heads to our left at the same time.

Ron is standing in the doorway. Despite the shitty lighting, I can see his heaving chest. His eyes are wide and he’s holding his gun.

This is not good. This is so not fucking good.

Tragedy set his course for revenge.
One woman stands in his way.

Out March 21st – New Adult Romantic Suspense, Bottom of the Sky by Shae Ross.

Title: Bottom of the Sky

Author: Shae Ross

Genre: New Adult, Romantic Suspense

Release Date: March 21, 2017

Format: Digital, Paperback

Synopsis:

Tragedy set his course for revenge. One woman stands in his way.

John

The last thing I need is to be saddled with the on-the-run niece of the family I’m about to take down. Gianna Silva wants me to help her find her missing mother. But I’ve got bigger fish to fry—namely, her cousins Stefano and Santos Silva. I’m working on the inside, feeding information to the FBI, and I’m about to drop the net on their ring of counterfeiters. To keep Gianna out of my way, I’ve agreed to help her but under one condition: What I say goes. No questions. No pushback. I make the rules.

The problem is Gianna Silva doesn’t know the meaning of the word “rule” and she’s on to me. For two years, I’ve hidden my true identity behind a wall built from stone-cold revenge. I thought it was indestructible—especially against someone with the last name of Silva—the family I’ve vowed to destroy…

Gianna

If I could find my missing mom by myself I would, but the only enemies she’s ever had are my dead father and his powerful family. Confronting the Silvas alone is too dangerous. I need an insider who knows how to play their game. John Rossi, with his cool, bad-boy confidence and access to the family is my best hope. I’ve bargained away the last dollar in my savings account in exchange for his help, but I’m beginning to think I made a deal with the devil.

I didn’t expect his rules to include sharing a cabin—and a bedroom with him—northwest of Nowheresville. I don’t trust him, or my attraction to him. But to find my mom, I’ll break every one of his damn rules, regardless of the consequences…

Find out more at: Goodreads | Amazon

Short Excerpt:
“Gianna…it’s just a dream.” He’s lying on his side, drawing me out with the soothing voice and steady gaze.

The breathless squeeze in my lungs eases. Awareness dawns, and I become conscious of how close our bodies are. Warmth slips from under the splayed fingers, spreading slowly, travelling lower and weighing down my belly. I should turn away, but a part of me wants to pick up his hand, roll onto my side, and pull him over me like a cape. If only I could.

Reality returns in a blink: Who he is, who I am and what this is all about. My mom. My family. The nightmare’s not real, but reality seems worse.

“You’re all right, Gia. I’ve got you. Right here.”

His fingers move, stroking my bare skin gently, and his tone is filled with resolute assurance. Flecks of amber swim in the moonlit green irises.

I force a dry swallow then turn before my face cracks. “Gia” is the other nickname my uncle used. I squeeze my lids, nodding as if I agree. But I don’t. Tightness builds in my chest, moving into my throat. His words are just a hollow reminder.

Nobody has me. Nobody’s ever had me.

Long Excerpt:
He stops and flips upright in the middle of the moonlit river. His hands hold my waist as our feet cycle. “Why are we stopping?” I ask.

“So you can kiss me.”

His hands catch my ribcage lifting me as he tows me in.

My palms flatten against his slick, hard chest. “I make the rules, right?”

He shakes his head, and a wicked smile sprouts from the perfectly shaped lips. “This is no man’s land…the river is ruled by nature.”

His grin widens, ripping something open in my heart, and I think maybe this isn’t such a bad thing. He obviously needs the distraction and so do I.

I meet his kiss. His head slants over mine, and I open for him, sucking him in. Our bodies bob from the force of his treading feet, keeping both of us afloat. His hand slides to my back, slinging me in flush to his body. My breath jams in my throat when I feel him, thick and hard against my stomach, teasing the nerves gathered low in my belly.

“John…” I break the kiss and gasp a short breath. “I need to conserve some energy if I’m going to make it to the other side.”

He chuckles softly, twirling our bodies until we’re in the current again, but when I stroke to swim beside him, he glides underneath me, looping one of my hands over his shoulder and the other under his chest. I surf his back as he swims, resting my cheek on the wet strands of his hair, feeling the muscles of his chest moving under my fingertips with each stroke. Weightless and languid, water floods my limbs, caressing my bones. I’m floating through the Sky as if I’m on my way to heaven..

After several moments, John’s body shifts and his arm contracts. He’s caught the ladder to his dock, supporting our weight with one hand. He dips a shoulder and swings me in front of him. I point my toe and find a slippery rung. The ladder sinks as he steps onto the rung below mine, brushing my back with wet skin, gripping the rails and cocooning me with warmth.

Everything about this moment makes me want to stop and take it in.

I sway into him feeling his cheek brush my temple. He curves around me, dropping a hand to my stomach. I arch as it travels up and his knuckles graze my cleavage, prickling the sensitive skin. A voice inside echoes this isn’t me as his fingers continue upward, sliding to the side of my neck, but this is me with John.

“If you don’t want this, Gianna…” his voice sounds almost tortured. “Climb up.”

My toes curl, standing firm on the rung, submerged like anchors. His mouth lowers to the side of my neck, and I tilt giving him full access.

“If you don’t climb up now, I’ll keep touching you…”

AUTHOR: Bella Love-Wins

GENRE: Romance

Jackson
The world tilted a little on its axis the second that innocent little country girl appeared from the other side of the privacy glass on my penthouse terrace. Everything changed. Her timing couldn’t be any worse, but the second she climbs onto my balcony, I have to have her.
Her name is Dahlia.
My doll.
Now, she’s my property.
She doesn’t know it yet, but Dahlia is about to be owned.

Dahlia
The bossy billionaire wants to make me pay.
The first time I laid eyes on Jackson Knight, the bossy billionaire next door, he gave me an intense, panty-dropping stare with those mesmerizing, sky-blue, brooding eyes.
The second time, I trespassed onto his penthouse balcony to retrieve a wayward, high-strung Shih Tzu I was pet-sitting for his neighbor.
Jackson warned me never to do that again, or next time he’d punish me and make me pay.
Well, dogs will be dogs.
It happened again.
And I found out he wasn’t lying about punishing me.
Now I’m naked and tied to Jackson’s bed. Any minute now, I’ll have to tell him that I’m a virgin.

Jackson POV

“Jackson,” she moans. Grinding on my hand and cock, she whispers how much she wants me against my lips.

Fuck. My cock can’t wait another second to get inside her. I pull my fingers out, and with one sharp jerk, I bury my dick balls deep into her tight, smoldering hot pussy. Dahlia pulls from our kiss, and cups a hand over her mouth, muffling her moans as I fuck her hard. Knowing I’m the only one to ever breach her inner walls make me wild, and taking her raw like this, here at work, well it’s hot as fuck.

We go on this way for a while, and I drag her sweater up, moving her bra aside to suck and tease her breasts. As I swirl my tongue around each nipple, her core starts to tighten and throb around my shaft, letting me know she’s close without words. Grabbing her ass again, I ram into her, thrusting in and out.

I can stay like this for ages, taking her on every piece of furniture and in every position imaginable. But the thing is that we’re in my office, and although the door’s locked, I know there’s enough going on business-wise that I shouldn’t drag this out for too long. Someone is liable to interrupt us, and if it pertains to Mont Blanc, it’ll be too important to ignore. As much as I hate being responsible at a time like this, it’s best if I wrap this up before I get pulled away.

“Come for me, doll,” I whisper into her ear.

She digs her fingernails into my shoulders through my shirt, holding on tight as she grinds her hips. With a small cry, her body writhes through her climax. Her tight cunt feels like it’s summoning my dick to cum inside of her. I can’t fucking resist. A moment later, I explode my release deep in her core.

We pant hard to catch our breath, and after a short while, I get to my feet while she’s still connected to me, carrying her to my private bathroom. “You know what this means?” I ask as I lower her legs to the floor.

“What?”

“You need to bring your fine ass down to my office more often. In those hot cowboys boots.”

She smiles, pulling her skirt back down her legs. “We’ll see.”

Just as I expected, there’s a hard, demanding knock on my office door. “What the hell is it, Gemma?” I shout. “I’m busy!”

“That’s no way to talk to your secretary,” says the very familiar masculine booming voice coming from the other side of my office.

It’s my dad.

“Fuck.”

“Who is that?” Dahlia asks nervously.

“My father. Don’t worry, I’ll get rid of him,” I tell her, grabbing a hand towel to clean off. I put my dick back in my pants, zip up, and give my hands a quick wash. “You go ahead and get yourself straightened up.”

Walking briskly to the door, I pull it open a few inches. I’m almost bowled over by Dad, who charges in and walks right past me to my desk, wearing a three-piece pinstripe suit, and with his gray hair neatly combed back.

“We need to talk,” Dad grunts, and rests his hand on the backrest of the very chair where I just had my way with Dahlia.

He doesn’t notice that she’s standing in the middle of my bathroom—and Dahlia is too nervous to draw any attention to herself by shutting the door.

I’m not afraid of my father finding that I’ve been up to extracurricular activities in my office. It’s my office after all. What I know, though, is he’ll be very interested in the object of my lust. Dahlia isn’t going to leave here without Dad meeting her again. And he’ll want to know more about her. Which can go either way for her.

Dad gives me a once-over from head to toe. “Since when do you walk around the office looking like that? Half your shirt is out of your pants…and fix your damn tie.”

“Let’s talk in one of the boardrooms,” I tell him.

“What?” he asks, then he sniffs the air suspiciously.

In the final installment of Sally Christie’s “tantalizing” (New York Daily News) Mistresses of Versailles trilogy, Jeanne Becu, a woman of astounding beauty but humble birth, works her way from the grimy back streets of Paris to the palace of Versailles, where the aging King Louis XV has become a jaded and bitter old philanderer. Jeanne bursts into his life and, as the Comtesse du Barry, quickly becomes his official mistress.

“That beastly bourgeois Pompadour was one thing; a common prostitute is quite another kettle of fish.”

After decades of suffering the King’s endless stream of Royal Favorites, the princesses of the Court have reached a breaking point. Horrified that he would bring the lowborn Comtesse du Barry into the hallowed halls of Versailles, Louis XV’s daughters, led by the indomitable Madame Adelaide, vow eternal enmity and enlist the young dauphiness Marie Antoinette in their fight against the new mistress. But as tensions rise and the French Revolution draws closer, a prostitute in the palace soon becomes the least of the nobility’s concerns.

Told in Christie’s witty and engaging style, the final book in The Mistresses of Versailles trilogy will delight and entrance fans as it once again brings to life the sumptuous and cruel world of eighteenth century Versailles, and France as it approaches irrevocable change.

In the gaming hells of eighteenth century London, orphan Caro Worth is leading a double life. By day she plays a proper gentlewoman on the lookout for a wealthy husband. By night she plays the infamous Angelica, her fictional half-sister with a talent for cards and an ability to finance the life her respectable self has built. An introduction to a rich Marquis brings marriage and security within Caro’s grasp…until the arrival of the unpredictable and totally ineligible Mr. Tobias Felton.

Dismayed by Felton’s persistent appearances, shocking frankness, and enigmatic green eyes, Caro watches helplessly as he comes closer than anyone to guessing her secret, but when complete and utter ruin threatens, she finds that Felton’s suspicions just might become her salvation. As the walls she has built to protect herself crumble down around her, Caro learns that no matter how careful your plans, life and love have a habit of falling quite spectacularly out of control!

Interview:

What inspired you to write Fool Me Twice?

Truth be told, it was the Cher song, “Welcome to Burlesque.” I was listening to it several years ago and suddenly, there she was, sitting in my imagination at a gaming table; Caro Worth. She was in a richly decorated, dimly lit Gaming Hell, but she wasn’t still for long. She rose and began to traverse the gaming tables, her dress giving away her origins as the 1770s, and the darkness of the place, creeping in at the edges as candles worked their hardest to push it away, hinting at the secrets that Caro Worth kept hidden.

And there she stayed, in my mind, winding around the tables, playing another game of cards, waiting for her story to be written. She was beckoning me, and only her face, her path, was clear to me from among the blurred faces of that hell. I couldn’t ignore her, not when she dwelt in my mind–she compelled me to write her story, from that first night in the hell where we met, until… well, that’s where it all started.

What comes first with the character: their name, looks, personality?

Their personality, definitely. It’s usually an emotion that I get, floating, blurry, but strong. Then the blurriness begins to sharpen and clarity comes and I can see what’s going on in the scene. It’s that first scene that everything stems from, like the beginning of a vine that grows and reaches over all my imagination. It’s only really as the story gets going that I begin to see the specifics of the character’s looks, but even still, there’s something elusive about them. They only become very distinct in certain scenes, like when they are glancing out of a window, smiling at a lover, or kissing… And the name comes last. In fact, quite often I change them halfway through. But strangely, when I’m choosing a name, I veto a lot of ideas because when the right one comes along, I just know it.

Who is your favorite character that you wrote?

Hmm, I would say it’s probably Lady Rebecca Fairing. I have a soft spot for Lady Etheridge too, and they are pretty similar. I like their frankness and the way it often leads to very sharp, witty repartee. A true friend is someone who speaks the truth with love, and I feel that’s what these ladies do. If I were to meet someone from Fool Me Twice, I think, apart from Caro, I’d definitely want to meet Lady Rebecca.

Are you working on a new book now?

Yes, I’m working on a few different projects at the moment. My main focus is on one set in the Georgian period. You’ll have to forgive me for my cryptic-ness here, I don’t like to tell everything before projects are finished, but I can tell you I am spending some time with a rather eccentric widow who cares not one jot for others’ opinions. Then there’s a tall aloof gentleman who is quite bewildered, yet intrigued, by her. And there are plenty of obstacles and problems that are causing untold chaos at present… That’ll have to do for now 🙂

Any tips for new authors starting out?

Write! I know that sounds crazy because you’re probably already doing it, but you really should just, write, write, write. There’s nothing like writing to help you process life, to give descent escapism, joy and satisfaction. And there’s nothing like writing to improve writing. You just have to keep going. Writing, if it were a sport, would be an endurance sport. It’s about continuing even when it’s hard, when you’re disheartened, and when you have writer’s block. It’s about writing to improve which in turn gives more enjoyment. And if you want to share your writing with others, it’s about remembering that you have a responsibility towards your audience and what you put out into the public sphere. Never be too proud to remember that, or to remember that you will always be learning.

About the Author03_philippa-jane-keyworth

Philippa Jane Keyworth, known to her friends as Pip, has been writing since she was twelve in every notebook she could find. Originally trained as a horse-riding instructor, Philippa went on to become a copywriter before beginning a degree in History. A born again Christian, Philippa lives in the south of England with her handsome husband.

Philippa has always written stories and believes that, since it is one of her loves and passions, she always will. In her early writing career, she dabbled in a variety of genres, but it was the encouragement of a friend to watch a film adaptation of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice that began her love affair with the British Regency. Since then, she has watched every Regency film and TV series she could get her hands on and become well acquainted with Georgette Heyer’s novels which gave her the inspiration to write her own.

Both as a reader and a writer, Philippa believes it is important to escape into a world you yourself would want to live in. This is why she writes stories that will draw you into the characters’ joys and heartaches in a world apart from our own. Her debut novel, The Widow’s Redeemer (Madison Street Publishing, 2012), is a traditional Regency romance bringing to life the romance between a young widow with an indomitable spirit and a wealthy viscount with an unsavory reputation. The novel has been received well by readers and reviewers who have praised the heartfelt story and admirable characters. Her second novel, The Unexpected Earl (Madison Street Publishing, 2014), explores another romance in the Regency era when an impetuous young woman has her life turned upside down by the reappearance of the earl who jilted her six years ago. Her third novel a Georgian romance will come out at the end of 2016.

“Here’s the deal, Shel. If you’re ever with me, you have to open up to me. Completely.”

“Completely?” she whispered.

Dipping his lips to her ears, his voice vibrated every bone of her body. “Every. Whimper.” He traced the shell of her ear with his tongue, and her heart stopped. “Every time you squirm, wanting more. And I want to bring you more. Create your pleasure. Become your pleasure. Be responsible for making you scream my name. I want you to be mine. I don’t want to have just something. I want you. Body. Mind. All of it. Or nothing.”
