Tell us about your writing – What genre do you prefer to write? What books, stories, other publications that you’ve written are your personal favorites? Anything new coming up?
I usually prefer to write in science fiction and fantasy genres, though no genre is really off limits for my imagination. One of my favorite things I wrote won a small award while I was getting my bachelor’s degree. It’s called “Let’s Go to Bed.” It is a bit like a braided essay, where I jump between detailed accounts of dreams, from myself and those I know, and research into the meaning and purpose of dreams. I am currently working on the sequel to Hunt of the Fallen and writing up pitches for video games.
What about you as a person? What do you do to relax? Favorite movies or tv shows? Hobbies?
Well, since I want to get into the entertainment industry, I’m lucky enough to have hobbies that can double as research. I enjoy video games, all sorts of movies and TV shows, and reading. Like many of the stuff I write, I enjoy science fiction and fantasy oriented entertainment. Though, if I had to choose a favorite movie, I would say Stranger than Fiction. And a favorite TV show would be Community. I also like playing other kinds of games with friends, from Magic the Gathering and Heroclix, to Scrabble and Telestrations.
What gets your creative juices going? Do you write to a music, and do you want to share your playlist?
There are a couple things that help my creativity along. Since you mention music, I feel inspired when I listen to classical music, and composed music that could be from movies, such as Two Steps from Hell and E.S. Posthumus. But the thing that gets me thinking the most is my dreams. I often wake up from epic adventures and write them down so I can use them in my writing later on.
